Principal Engineer (m/f) Augmented Reality at Harman International in Garching (Munich)

Tasks / Responsibilities:
- Lead the conceptualization, design, implementation and testing of Augmented Reality products
- Develop tools and processes while consistently demonstrating technical expertise and ingenuity
- Plan, define, and execute AugNav projects with no supervision
- Act as domain expert for all augmented reality related questions
- Develop C++ software for Augmented Reality applications based on customer requirements
- Interpret and clarify customer reqirements
- Follow Agile Scrum Methodology for software development
- Identify / scope work packages. Estimate effort
- Mentor junior software developers
- Participate in peer reviews of code and have own code peer reviewed
- Document code
- Participate in customer meetings
- Identify and fix bugs. Participate in bench and drive tests. Analyze vehicle data recordings, CAN traces, inter-processor communication etc. to identify and fix defects
- Apply industry practices, including ASpice

Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering field
- 10+ years hands-on software development
- Must have experience developing virtual reality / augmented reality software in the automotive domain
- Must have experience leading teams of 5+ software engineers
- Excellent C++11 development and debugging skills in Linux environment.
- Excellent experience with computer graphics, graphical algorithms, and OpenGL – must have at least 5 years experience in computer graphics related SW development
- Experience with video streams in Linux environment (EGL streams)
- Good knowledge of automotive Interfaces (especially CAN)
- Good knowledge of communication mechanisms, in particular THRIFT and DSI
- Knowledge of object-oriented-programming and object-oriented-design
- Knowledge of UML modelling
- Experience with the Operating System Linux, with the tools GIT and Perforce as well as with Java and Shell scripting
- Development under Andoid
- Prior experience with Scene Graph Technology, in particular Open Scene Graph, with camera systems and overlay generation as well as with positioning technology (GNSS, dead reckoning)
- Proven track records of launching complex software into production
- Ability to work effectively within a global matrix environment
- Willingness to travel: Support customer and supplier meetings globally. Attend face to face meetings at Harman locations globally.
- Fluent English language skills, German is beneficial

Senior Software Architect (m/f) Augmented Reality at Harman International in Garching (Munich)

Tasks / Responsibilities:
- Understand and document the overall software architecture of our Augmented Reality product, including all internal and external interfaces
- Document architecture in UML diagrams in Enterprise Architect
- Compare customer requirements with current product capabilities. Allocate requirements to software modules
- Partition Augmented Reality functionality into software building blocks
- Provide technical leadership to software development team: Support and mentor application engineers in writing their respective software modules
- Review algorithms and decide how to best implement them in software
- Review source code for compliance with architecture
- Support the resolution of software defects by identifying which of multiple possible software modules is responsible for the defect
- Participate in vehicle drive testing and analysis of log files
- Negotiate and document customer requirements with OEM customers
- Negotiate and document internal interfaces within the global Harman organization
- Support project leader in task planning and effort estimation

Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering field
- 8+ years hands-on software development. Must include at least 3 years in developing virtual reality or augmented reality solutions
- Good C++ coding skills in Linux environment
- Experience in structuring complex software product into modules that are implemented by teams of 10+ software engineers
- Good knowledge of managing requirements in Doors / negotiating requirements with customer
- Experience with agile software development (Scrum)
- Prior experience with Scene Graph Technology and in particular Open Scene Graph, with camera systems and overlay generation (OpenGL) as well as with positioning technology (GNSS, dead reckoning)
- Deeper understanding of sensor fusion methods specifically positional sensors as Gyro, Accelormeter, GPS etc would be advantageous
- Ability to work effectively within a global matrix environment and to find simple and elegant solutions to complex problems
- Willingness to travel: Support customer and supplier meetings globally. Attend face to face meetings at Harman locations globally

- Fluent English language skills, German is beneficial

C++/Qt developer - Institute for Scientific Interchange

The Computational Epidemiology & Public Health group of the ISI Foundation (http://www.isi.it) is looking for an experienced C++ developer to be included in the team.

The main development activity will be related to the the client application that is part of the GLEAMviz Simulator project (http://www.gleamviz.org/simulator/). The GLEAMviz client makes heavy usage of the OSG toolkit -integrated within the Qt framework- for data visualisation.

Required qualifications:

  • 3+ years of working experience as a software developer;
  • good knowledge of C++;
  • knowledge of the Qt framework;
  • knowledge of openSceneGraph and OpenGL;
  • OOP;
  • event driven programming;
  • english language (spoken and written).

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • working experience in 2D/3D graphics programming;
  • working experience with the Qt framework;
  • GUI development;
  • experience with other languages (Java, Python, …);
  • network programming.

 

Good attitude for team working and self management skills are also required.
Occupation: full time.
